Viviana, Judy and I are working on a chapter about our mate preferences in parents stuff, and we're suggesting that moms with kids (relative to un-moms) might be a little more wary about guys with great physical stature. So a guy with muscles certainly is a threat in that he has the potential to do some damage to her kids (or herself), but is anyone (Shanna, Mary Ann) aware of anything suggesting he's actually any more likely to?
P.S. As "team members", you guys are able to post your own blog topics, right? (I hope so!) Wait, you should try and see if you can. ;)

Hi Guys,
I haven't run across any data suggestion that males with a muscular stature might pose a greater threat to children than males who are not muscularly built, but I wondered if the maintenance of such muscles by steroids, suppliements, and/or athletics and working out might come into play.
Just a thought,
Mary Ann
I also don't know of any research suggesting that muscular men are more to abuse children--and if you think about it, even very weak (non-muscular) men can easily injure children. But even having said that, perhaps muscular men pose a greater danger to children than non-muscular men because (as Krystal suggested) these men have higher T and higher T is moderately positively associated with violence.
But putting the violence issue aside for a second, muscular men might be avoided by moms (relative to non-moms) because muscularity = high T = good genes = short-term mating strategy. A lot of research suggests that high T guys are not attractive long-term mates.
Hey Mary Ann and Krystal and Aaron,
All good points. I was thinking that those muscles (certainly able) might be a cue to the mom suggestive of abuse. But I actually like the idea you guys came up with better. Yea! Good job, blog! ;) Insights to come from ABS soon.
wow I'm slow on the posting uptake I suppose.
Thanks for the comments...it will definitely help us with the chapter!!
