Trivers gets Crafoord Prize in Biosciences

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has awarded the annual $500,000 Crafoord Prize in Biosciences for 2007 to Robert Trivers, Rutgers University, "for his fundamental analysis of social evolution, conflict and cooperation."

Smelling in stereo

Even if you don't listen to the entire story (which is informative), you should at least watch the video. Kind of creepy to watch a student crawling around a field! Anyway, the two Berkeley researchers found through two experiments, in which participants tracked "essence of chocolate," that humans detect different information from each nostril to form a 3D map of olfactory cues.
